Heartland Academy Denver launched in 2021! We are non-profit Acton Academy Affiliate, and as such, these are our Mission and Promises:

Our Mission
Heartland Academy is creating a community where every person can find a calling that will change the world.

Our Promises

We promise, through Socratic guiding and experiential learning, you and your child will:

  • Begin a Hero’s Journey
  • Learn to be curious, become an independent learner and love life-long learning
  • Discover their most precious gifts, along with the dedication it takes to develop real talent
  • Understand the importance of a strong character
  • Cherish the arts, the wonders of the physical world, and the mystery of life
  • Treasure economic, political, and religious freedom

Facts and FAQs

We operate in-person Tueday-Thursday. Basic core academic work is expected to be completed from home on Mondays and Fridays.

The Colorado Family Church where we operate currently offers a “Community Day” on Friday (like a homeschool co-op).  This is optional, but available for Heartland learners for no extra charge.

Key Words We Use:
We have Guides not Teachers.
We have Studios not Classrooms.
We have Portfolios and Exhibitions not Grades.
We have Contracts and Covenants.
We are Socratic and do not lecture.
We build our curriculum around the Hero’s Journey.

Daily Schedule: 8:30am-3:15pm
Our learning day is broken into individual core skills work, collaborative core skills (Civilizations, Writers Workshops), Quests, Socratic discussions, PE, and free time.

Tuition:
$600/month  –  Tuition for May is due at registration as a deposit.

Do you have a Primary program?
We have an unofficial “Sparks” program serving ages 4-7. It is religiously exempt from childcare licensing and focuses on Nature School and Montessori methods of education.

When will your Middle and High School programs open?
When will your Middle and High School programs open? We expect to open a separate Middle School Studio in the Fall of 2024, and a Launchpad (High School) Studio in 2026.

Are you full next year? (2023-2024)
We expect to be able to welcome several new learners next year, as we expand our program and hire more guides.

What do you require of parents?
Our parents sign a covenant to be life-long learners and to support their children on their own Hero’s Journeys. We expect parents to attend at least 2 parent meetings per year.

How can I learn more about the Acton Academy model?
Since the Acton Academy model for learning is so different from other education systems, we highly recommend learning as much as possible about it to make sure this is a fantastic fit for your family.
