I have 3 kids in Heartland Academy, and I am very happy with what they are experiencing and learning. The Acton learning model they use is, in my opinion, the way of the future. The students are expected to take full ownership over their education. Making mistakes and failing is encouraged, because it means they are trying things that are new and uncomfortable. They learn conflict resolution skills, and that life is more about being fully engaged than just learning information and passing tests. The world is changing at a very rapid pace, and innovative schools like Heartland are primed to prepare students to be adaptive and successful in the society they will be entering in a decade or so. I would definitely encourage all parents to look at the options that are out there. We’ve looked at many, and for us, Heartland has been a great fit for our kids and well worth it.
